Dutch pipeline project WarmtelinQ is powering ahead with recent completion of drilling works under the A20 motorway.
The major project involves the laying of a 23km long heat transport pipeline from the port of Rotterdam to Vlaardingen, Delft, The Hague, Rijswijk and aLeiden.
When the pipeline is complete, 120,000 households across the Netherlands can be supplied with sustainable heat.
The pipeline crosses with the A20 at Vlaardingen, and is being laid via a 320m longbored tunnel under the motorway.
Contractor Hanab Pipelines & Industry recently completed the drilling work, involving pushing hollow steel tubes with a drill head in front from the starting point to the end point, in this case from Fortunapark towards the Watersportweg. This is done very precisely with the use of GPS.
