Bohrtec technology is contributing to a wastewater project in Puerto Viejo, Costa Rica, led by AyA – Instituto Costarricense de Acueductos y Alcantarillados.
The local contractor Fernandez Vaglio Constructora S.A., together with trenchless specialist COPROVISA S.A., relies on a BM 400 S with Front Steer to install 16-inch HDPE sewer pipes under challenging geological conditions.
The front steer section spans 75m, drilled through coral-based, non-displaceable stable ground beneath the groundwater table at 5m depth. Reusable steel casings are pushed in during drilling, then pulled out to simultaneously insert the final product pipe.
Additionally, 350m of displaceable ground was tackled using the pilot tube, followed by jacking of 6-inch HDPE pipes.
