Dutch company Van Leeuwen Sleufloze Technieken (VLST) has kicked off high-density polyethylene (HDPE) prefabrication at its Botlek site in the Netherlands.
VLST lead engineer and project manager Jun Yong T said it was exciting to be beginning works after half a year of dedicated engineering.
“We’re proud to be working with ExxonMobil on this challenging and exciting project involving two horizontal directional drillings (HDD),” he said.
The two drillings are each approximately 1km long and 35m deep.
VLST was established by two brothers, Anton and Ries van Leeuwen, in 1969.
One of the first milestones was the development of a drilling machine capable of horizontal drilling, in 1979. The brothers executed their first trenchless drilling project back in 1988.
