Joseph Gallagher Limited’s trenchless team has successfully completed works on the pipeline between Trimpley and Hampton Loade, 40 miles west of Birmingham, UK.
In connecting Hampton Loade water treatment works (WTW) to Trimpley Top Storage Reservoir, the pipeline will deliver 20 megalitres of water per day.
Working with Coffey, Johnston Trenchless Solutions (part of the Joseph Gallagher group) installed 1800m of 630mm SDR 9 water pipe for Severn Trent across six varied ground conditions.
Vermeer’s UK and Ireland D220 and R2000 desander proved essential on the challenging 660m Gun Hill crossing through coal seams and sandstone.
The £23m ($47.2 million) pipeline project began in August 2023, and will boost water supply for 65,000 rural Severn Trent customers while still protecting the environment and wildlife.
The 11km route has linked two water treatment works, a Severn Trent site at Trimpley near Bewdley in Worcestershire, and a South Staffs Water site at Hampton Loade in Shropshire.
