In Guishan, Taipei, Wande Construction is delivering a highly technical underground connection between two major industrial complexes.
Situated 15m beneath a busy urban road that could not be closed to traffic, the project required a trenchless solution capable of extreme precision under complex conditions.
To meet this challenge, the Bohrtec BM 800 L2S was deployed for one section of the work, installing 813mm steel pipes using frontsteer technology combined with a down-the-hole hammer.
This advanced method enabled the team to maintain tight directional control while operating in mixed ground conditions that included sand, silt, and stones up to 500mm in diameter.
Despite the confined site and the necessity to align perfectly with an existing pipe roofing structure, 20m of pipeline were successfully drilled in just five hours of pure drilling time. The precision achieved, even in such difficult geological and logistical circumstances, underscores the capabilities of modern trenchless technology.
Unlike conventional methods often used locally in Taiwan, the Bohrtec solution allows for natural soil removal without introducing foreign materials.
This not only minimises the environmental impact but also preserves the integrity of the surrounding ground.
