Trenchless technology is playing its role in helping deal with the housing shortage in Canada as more large-scale residential projects get underway.
AtkinsRéalis will provide engineering services in the Peel Region of Ontario, Canada including preliminary and detailed designs for the installation of new sanitary trunk sewers.
The project is part of an infrastructure drive in Brampton and Caledon over the next decades to create sites ready for development that in turn will help Ontario’s target of building 125,000 more homes by 2051.
ReNew Canada reported that AtkinsRéalis’ design recommendation will include trenchless micro-tunnelling among its construction management methods to reduce surface impact.
“We have a long-established relationship with Peel Region that is built on trust, developed over decades of delivering operational excellence,” said Stéphanie Vaillancourt, president, Canada, AtkinsRéalis. “Water projects support economic growth because they form the foundation for new residential and commercial construction in the area.”
AtkinsRéalis will provide geotechnical, hydrogeological and excess soils management investigations for preliminary design (stage-1) and detailed design (stage-2) for the installation of the sanitary trunk sewer.
