In a sign the advantages of trenchless technology are being realised in almost every part of the globe another Indian city plans to utilise the techniques to put cables underground.
The (AUD) $17 million project the existing overhead electrical distribution system to an underground cable system in the city of Ullala on the western coast of India.
Mangalore Electricity Supply has invited bids for the location in the Mangaluru division.
Mangalore Electricity Supply the work involves laying underground cables using trenchless technology, specifically horizontal directional drilling (HDD).
This method will include excavation for cable trenches, along with site preparation and other related works.
The upgrade aims to improve the city’s electrical infrastructure and reduce the risks associated with overhead lines, especially in urban areas, while this conversion is crucial for modernising the power supply in Ullala, it said.
The tender will close in January.
