The International Society for Trenchless Technology (ISTT) has announced that Dr. Kimberlie Staheli, Ph.D., P.E., has been named the 2025 inductee into the prestigious North American Society for Trenchless Technology Hall of Fame.
This is a truly momentous occasion, as Dr. Staheli becomes the first woman to receive this honour and only the 35th member overall. It’s also a particularly special moment for ISTT, as Dr. Staheli served as its vice chair until the end of 2022, contributing significantly to the organisation’s growth and success.
Dr. Staheli’s career is a testament to her dedication, expertise, and leadership in the trenchless technology field. Starting with her mechanical engineering background and a career launch in 1992, she quickly became a pioneer.
In 1998, she co-founded one of the first consulting firms specialising in trenchless pipeline techniques, demonstrating her entrepreneurial spirit and commitment to advancing the industry. Her pursuit of knowledge led her to earn a Ph.D. in geotechnical engineering in 2006, further solidifying her expertise.
As president of Staheli Trenchless Consultants, Dr. Staheli has spearheaded numerous successful trenchless projects, including horizontal directional drilling and microtunnelling. Her contributions have significantly impacted how ISTT approaches underground infrastructure. Beyond her project work, her leadership within ISTT as vice chair (until 2022) was invaluable.
This well-deserved recognition will be celebrated at the NASTT No-Dig Show in Denver in April 2025.
ISTT extends its warmest congratulations to Dr. Staheli on this remarkable achievement. Her induction into the Hall of Fame is a milestone for the entire trenchless technology community and a source of immense pride for ISTT — she is an inspiration to all.
